The Utah Scorcherz are looking to add talented players to expand the team and to replace players who are moving up or on. Both in-field and out-field positions will be available and players for all postons are encouraged to try out. Tryouts will be held Saturday August 29, 2009 at 10:00 am. Additional evening or weekend tryouts can be individually arranged during the week of August 24th at times that are convenient for players and coaches. All tryouts will take place at Skyline High School. Skyline’s softball field is located at the northwest corner of the campus. Please call Ken Jensen at 801 518-7702 or Mark Lacy at 801 205-8403 to request a tryout time
The majority of Scorcherz players are from the Skyline/Olympus area with additional players from Sandy, Draper and the Avenues.
The Scorcherz won the Silver Division of the Desert Classic and St. George before moving up to the 16U bracket in 2009. While young, the team has played exceptionally well in tournaments throughout the summer including a second place finish in the Copper Classic and a athird place finish in the Heat Stroker. The team is well coached, dedicated and talented. As important, the players are confident and supportive and consistently finding ways to make the adventure fun.
During the coming year, the Scorcherz will look toward playing in additional out-of-state tournaments in addition to a full but manageable in-state schedule. Fall tournaments scheduled include St. George, Huntington Beach, CA and Mesquite, NV.
